Do you know Okinawan Ladies used to get tattooed as a culture?
We are not able to see it in nowadays, because it was prohibited by Meiji government as one of savage customs in 1899.
since then time passes, values and times have changed then Okinawan tattoos(Hajichi) were vanished, but there are many stories of ladies with Hajichi got pain in their life by prejudice and discrimination.
Unfortunately it happened in Taiwan too. Indigenous Taiwanese tattoo culture was also prohibited by Japanese government around 1903, but now we can see people in Taiwan are trying to revive their culture.
